Threader Installation Video

  1. Prepare all tools at your station.
  2. Place hair at your station in sections.
  3. Put about 10 or more locs / shells (wide end opening up) on your threader.
  4. Prepare your clients hair, start at the neck about 1 inch above the neck line.
    Clip excess hair away.
  5. Put shells on the theader with wide end facing up.
  6. Very important to have a proper fold.
Select enough hair in a little square section, about 15-20 strands and use the coated clips to hold the clients hair.
  7. Place the hair extension with the client’s hair in the coated clips.
Now both are together in the coated clips.
  8. Keep in mind client’s hair and extension hair has to fit through the loc / shell. It’s a balancing act, taking too little of the client’s hair will cause them to slip out. Taking too much, it will not fit in the shell; Clip the client’s hair and the hair extensions together with the coated clip.
  9. Place the client’s hair and the extension into the threader.
  10. Pull all the hairs through the locs / shells.
  11. Move the locs / shells up the threader carefully with your fingers.
  12. Place locs / shells close to the scalp and with your comb, remove any excess hair away from the locs / shells so it’s tangle free.
  13. Place the locs / shells in your V spot in your installation tool. Press down in the V spot.
  14. Open the installation tool; you will see the locs / shells in a V. Twist the V locs / shells 90° and put it on the flat part of the installation tool.
Press down again (flat). You have double folded your loc / shell. This completes the fold and will stay securely in your client’s hair.
  15. Make sure that the installation tool is properly positioned otherwise the locs / shells will stick out; Now spacing and brick laying are important.

Removal

Removal of hair extensions should take place 3-4 months after application. This time frame depends on how fast your clients’ hair grows, and if it is properly cared for.

  1. Use the tip of the installation tool and place the shell / loc in-between.
  2. Gently squeeze down.
  3. The shell / loc will gently open; remove the shell / loc
  4. Gently remove the hair extension nicely together.

Most of the time you can re-use all the hair. However it is a good idea to have about 30-40 strands available as the client may have damaged some.

The hair can be re-used 2-3 times, the wax will break down. But you can re-wax the tips yourself. You will need a heater for it.

Please note:
You will need to replace all the shell / locs each time when putting them back in.
